BBQ Game

Remember guys BBQ game is on the 2nd August so please put a note in your diaries for that as we want as many of you as possible to turn up, I am sorting teams out for under 40's and Malcom for the over 40's please get in contact with us or to confirm your avalabilty for the match

BBQ food to be provided will post costs when decided apon, porbably same as previous years £5 a head, but will confirm on that note

All family welcome as should be a good day, if the rain should make an apperance then the reserve day is the 30th August

On a muggy day Wickham batted first and set about the task of setting a target positively, scoring at a comfortable rate and with no sign of faltering. However the opening stand between the Martin brothers ended in peculiar fashion as a straight drive was deflected onto the stumps with James Martin caught out of his crease.
By this time the younger of the two brothers was set for the day and took little pity on the young bowlers scoring freely and quickly. Well supported by the likes of Bob Hayward and Bob " the poet laureate" Higgins, Chris Martin went on to score an impressive 219. At the end of Wickham's 42 overs they had amounted a virtually insurmountable 328, with the medical giant luckily getting a four turned into a six late on.
Hambledon strolled out to bat after a great tea, with Mr Kipling's exceedingly good cake on offer, without a lot of confidence. the opening bowling pair if Kirby and Dave "dvd,compact disc,hmv" Chetri set about bowling in a professional and consistent manner and after a few overs it was clear that Hambledon has set their stall out and were planning to bat the 42 without attempting to challenge Wickhams total. Hambledon struggled to 130 of their 42 and the result was sealed, a convincing win of just under 200 runs was completed.
Thanks to master Bates for turning up but i urged him not to bother next time
